In the Land of Fire and Ice
After ordering a double shot of espresso I asked the woman behind the counter where I could find some football pitches. She reached down, grabbed a map and proceeded to list out every pitch we would come across as we made our way along the Fjord.
Waffles, Beer and Football: A Trip to Bruges
I booked the tour through Club Brugge, meaning it was Club Brugge lead by Club Brugge people. And upon meeting these people, we got chatting about my girlfriend and my own origins. I told them I was from Newcastle and a devoted Newcastle United fan. The answer to that? "Phillipe Albert! Phillipe Albert!"
Vedi Napoli E Poi Muori
We continue our exploration in the Quartieri Spagnoli, Naples’ Spanish Quarter. It’s a gritty residential area offering a glimpse into traditional Neapolitan life, worlds away from the flashy high-street shops of Via Toledo just a few hundred metres away. Any available wall space is adorned by street art much of which is, predictably, of Dios.
Culture in Catalunya
It's the football that captivates the majority. A true cauldron of history surrounds you as you stand in the dugout. So many stories. And as you embark around the story, it's got an aura about it. One that brings you in and wants you to find out more. It's engrossing.
Ultras on the Reeperbahn
Upon arriving in Hamburg and walking through one section of it to get to the hotel, I liked it. It has a friendly and exciting vibe about it, with every building possible having some sort of artistic expression on it in the form of graffiti. Some pieces of art were good, some were the ones you'd typically see on road signs in the UK. Either way, I dig the creative expression across the whole city. It was either graffiti or stickers. So no matter what, your property was getting covered in something.
Away With AIK
Beforehand, it was the perfect away day. It was a Friday, and it was a bank holiday. Örebro, the city where AIK was playing in is only a two hour drive from Stockholm (in the Swedish league, that is a short driving distance, mind you). On top of this, the weather Gods didn’t get the spring memo and went full on summer on all the Swedes pale and sun starved skin.
A Love Letter to Medellin
Medellin is called ”The City of Eternal Spring” and that slogan alone should make you want to pack your bags. You lot can have summer, I’m all for spring. And Medellin embodies spring. Spring is about anticipation. Excitement. Resurrection.
